ERIMSA wins environmental awards
ERIMSA has been granted two environmental awards from the Spanish Aggregates Federation.
The Spanish Aggregates Federation (FdA), the leading organisation in the mining sector in Spain, has granted ERIMSA two awards as a part of its National Sustainable Development Awards 2018. ERIMSA, a fully owned Elkem company, is located in Spain and produce up to 350.000 mt quartz annually.
The awards are significant, considering that the FdA includes nearly 700 national and international companies operating in Spain and 1,100 different aggregate operations.
ERIMSA won the first prizes in the categories "Good Environmental Practices to Mining operations and restoration of the Frades zone" and "Health and Safety related to dust prevention measures at the Castillo mine".The Award Ceremony will take place on 24-26 October, at the 5th National Aggregates Conference, which will be held in Santiago de Compostela (Galicia), where HM King Felipe VI is the honorary chair. More than 700 professionals representing sector companies from 20 different countries will be present.
ERIMSA has over 30 years of experience in quartz extraction using an environmentally-friendly and sustainable production method. Every year, ERIMSA produces more than 700 000 tons of metallurgical quartz and aggregates for the construction sector. It is the company with the second largest volume of bulk exports from the Port of A Coruña and is also the second largest company in Galicia in terms of aggregate production.
